Spent the night at Megan's on Saturday--it's so friggin hot up there; it was about 103 degrees all day. Mostly we sat in the house around the fan reading Harry Potter. We went and saw the Wedding Crashers on Sunday morning before Ashley had to go to work, and then Megan drove me back to CCA. I had a headache so I basically slept all the rest of the afternoon. Monday we went into San Francisco with the prose class and visited the City Lights Bookstore, which was so much fun! It was really cool walking around and imagining all the beat poets hanging there...I didn't buy any books but I stole a postcard and put it in my sketchbook later. Afterward we went to lunch and I had a really time sitting and talking with Leah and Will, as well as Jacob, Nina, and Jane. I feel like I've gotten to have at least a few good conversations with every person in my class, so we're all pretty tight right now...the nineteen of us are like a little family of writers. It's going to make it that much worse when I leave. I'm going to be a mess on Friday night. But I took lots of pictures of everybody, so even if I never see them again (and I think I will because a lot of us are going to be applying to CCA) I'll always be able to look at them in my photo album. Today in class we presented our book reviews--Allison didn't show up the entire time and we thought for a while that she was sick again, but it turned out that she was ditching to finish her poetry homework. We all had to say goodbye to Jane this morning, because her grandfather died yesterday and she had to fly back to Connecticut for the funeral...I'm going to miss her; she's such a sweet person. |
